Joshua D. Brown, CFP®, MBA
Financial Advisor
Born overseas into a military family, I learned the importance of adaptability and resilience from a young age. After moving several times during childhood, my family eventually settled in Arizona, which has been home
ever since. My upbringing was shaped not only by the discipline and service minded values of military life but also by the entrepreneurial spirit of my parents. My father, a surgeon and small business owner, and my mother, who operated the business, instilled in me a deep appreciation for small business ownership and the dedication required to make it thrive. These early lessons in responsibility, resourcefulness, and leadership have stayed with me throughout my career.
Athletics also played a formative role in my personal development. I competed in collegiate tennis at Northern Arizona University, where I earned Scholar-Athlete honors. Tennis and athletics taught me far more than the
value of competition—they instilled discipline, time management, and a relentless drive to improve. These qualities continue to influence the way I approach both my personal and professional life.
Following my undergraduate studies, I began my career at Grand Canyon University. In this role, I gained firsthand experience in higher education financing while helping students navigate undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs. During this time, I pursued and earned my MBA from the Jerry Colangelo College of Business, further strengthening my knowledge of business strategy, finance, and leadership.
From there, I launched into the financial services industry by joining Vanguard, where I built a strong foundation in wealth management. At Vanguard, I obtained my Series 7, 63, and 66 licenses, as well as the
CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation. Over the course of my time there, I worked in a variety of roles centered around high-net-worth individuals, focusing on portfolio management, tax efficiency, and retirement income planning. These experiences gave me the opportunity to consult with clients on some of their most complex financial needs and honed my ability to tailor strategies to unique circumstances.
Eager to broaden the scope of my work, I made the decision to join WestPac Wealth Partners. This move allowed me to expand my experience beyond high-net-worth consulting into financial consulting and advanced tax strategy, particularly for owners of closely held businesses. Today, my work centers on developing comprehensive strategies that align wealth management, tax efficiency, and long-term planning for business owners. Partnering with the highly skilled team at WestPac has been instrumental in helping me bring innovative and cutting-edge strategies to clients, ensuring that they can maximize opportunities while protecting and growing what they’ve worked so hard to build.
Outside of my professional endeavors, I am deeply committed to living a well-rounded and values-driven life. I prioritize faith, family, and health, and I seek balance through activities that keep me grounded and energized. I enjoy spending time outdoors, whether it’s playing tennis, skiing in the mountains, or hiking new trails. These pursuits not only keep me active but also serve as a reminder of the importance of perspective and balance in all aspects of life.
